Kacy & Michael Slee

Kacy and Michael were married in the beautiful St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. It is a fairly big church, I remember it well because I ran from the sanctury to the girls dressing room to let them know the ceremony was about to start. Either it's big, or I'm out of shape... we'll go with big! So far in 2009, we have been blessed with mellow brides!! As the ceremony started, a bridesmaid was getting ready to walk when we noticed her bow was untied on the back of her dress... so I ran over to tie it as best as I could under 3 seconds, with a huge camera blocking my view! After they exchanged vows we took some formal shots and went outside with the couple. They were very lucky to have a beautiful day in April.. you never know with this Ohio weather! Their reception was at the York Golf Club. We've shot a couple receptions there, and it is one of our favorite spots! After everyone was settled in, "Dancing Queen" came on and all the girls came onto the dance floor with feather boas just singing and dancing away. It was too funny! After dinner we took the happy couple outside to take a few more shots on the balcony. At this point the sun was just blazing down on us... there was a box outside...so Lissy held it up to block the sun.. it sure made everyone laugh! Of course I took the picture I wanted... but I HAD to take a full view of Lissy and the box also! :) Kacy and Michael had an awesome day and we were honored to be apart of it!
Kristina & Bryan Mason

We had the pleasure of going to Puerto Rico to photograph Kristina and Bryan's wedding. Before I go into that, I will have to share a little about how we got there! We flew into San Juan and rented a car to travel to the resort where we would be staying and where the wedding would take place. It was a 2.5 hour drive.... and was nothing short of an adventure! I would drive in NYC anytime after seeing how people in Puerto Rico zip in and out of lanes, cutting you off, not stopping at red lights..etc etc. My hands were at 10 and 2 the entire time.... and beat red when our drive was over! It started pouring so hard I couldn't see the car in front of me. I know that I prayed about 20 times in those 2.5 hours!! Did I mention EVERYTHING was in Spanish? We quickly learned that Osete meant West.. thankfully! :) Okay now to our funny story/Laura and Lissy's blonde moment..... We went through a series of tolls, one in particular was about 10 lanes wide (of course with no marking as to where the lanes were... so guessing it was about 10 ha!) and I ended up pulling up to a toll where no one was taking the money. It was $.75 and we had a dollar. So I threw the dollar into this basket... nothing happened. Of course I was backing up traffic and everyone was quite upset with me, honking, yelling... so I get out of the car and shove the dollar down into the basket.... still nothing. I start yelling at Lissy "Oh my God, what do I do?!?!!?!" So she rolls her window down and asks the toll lady in the next lane what to do and she gets out of her toll lane (now we are backing up 2 lanes!) and she takes the basket apart and dug our dollar out.... then held it up and showed everyone behind us! She grabbed change, threw in the basket while she glared at me and tried to give me my quarter back. I said "Oh no, just keep it!" She wasn't having that, so I rolled down my window got the quarter and floored it out of there... well I thought I had the car in drive.... but oh no... it was in some random gear and the car was jumping all around! So I had to cut arcoss a few lanes to pull over and put it into drive. As soon as we were back on the road we just starting cracking up. Still can't believe we shoved a dollar bill in a change tray haha! Sooo..... that was one of our many adventures on the way there! So back to the wedding. We arrive at the resort and it is beautiful!!!! The next day is the wedding, we go with Kirstina to get her hair done. The woman didn't speak English so we were flipping through books to find her hairstyle... Lissy ended up redoing her hair back at the hotel :) The wedding was to take place at 5pm, it was pouring until 4:45pm... we weren't sure what was going to happen. Kristina is the most laid back bride we've ever had... she just sat there waiting for the rain to stop, not nervous, angry, nothing. We wish all brides were as cool as she was! :) As soon as the rain stopped she put on her dress and walked down the aisle. It was a little cloudy which was perfect lighting for us, and we were thrilled! The ceremony was very intimate with about 10 family members. We had a lot of fun walking around the beach taking photos with Kristina and Bryan- they are too cute together! Everything was gorgeous.
